Donegal Airport is located 2 miles (7km) south-west of Bunbeg in Carrickfinn, a small town in north-west County Donegal, Ireland. The airport dates all the way back to the 20th century, where it existed as a small grass strip. In the 1980s, this was replaced by a hard surface runway with temporary buildings. However, it wasn’t until 1986 that it started operation as a functional airport. Up until 2015, the airport only saw a limited number of flights, mainly Fokker and Saab operated routes to Glasgow and Rotterdam. Now, although still a small selection of routes, many more aircraft bring passengers through the airport’s terminal each year. According to a survey carried out by PrivateFly, Donegal Airport has been rated the most scenic airport in the world for the third year in a row.
Donegal Airport has been created to the highest level of detail, featuring stunning PBR ground textures, realistic pavement wear and tear and color-corrected ortho imagery. The scenery also integrates the SAM plugin for further realism.
The airport comes as Axonos’ first freeware scenery, complete with high-quality PBR textures alongside detailed models of around 5 objects, making it perfect for your next flight!
