Streamline is primarily an addon package manager (a bit like Node's npm or Debian's apt) - it performs automatic multi-layer dependency resolution, conflict detection and resolution, and updating. It's also got extra features like automatic file reversion (if an addon ever modifies / overwrites a simulator file, it automatically stores a copy of the original which is moved back once the addon is removed) and update persistence (the ability to persist selected addon files during updates - i.e. if the addon uses files to store user data that must not get erased when the addon updates). All these features need access to the system's filesystem (simulator folders), which is not easily possible from a browser environment.

Yes! Streamline is free and always will be. No subscriptions required. We pay the bills through donations and commissions on payware addon sales.

While we do understand that having to sign up just to download a few freeware addons is a bit of a nuisance, the way our systems are programmed it's unfortunately necessary - in order to display an addon library private to each user, we need a way to uniquely identify and authenticate users. We collect the absolute minimum required information (country is only required for region specific discounts) and we do not share user data with any third parties other than our authentication provider, Asgardeo (EU) by WSO2, where the data is stored.

Basically any flight simulator that we have addons for! For now we have X-plane and Microsoft Flight Simulator addons, but we've developed streamline to be highly modular so that adding compatibility for a new simulator is as simple as uploading an addon for that new simulator.

We found it a annoying to spend lots of time looking for and downloading libraries, some of which don't even exist anymore, to get addons to work, only to then have to troubleshoot other conflicting addons. We realised some form of package manager would have taken care of this automatically - given the right metadata. And so, we came up with the idea for Streamline. We then wanted to integrate these package manager features into a user-friendly addon browser and marketplace, to give addon developers a supportive platform they could use to share their hard work on - this is the Streamline we have today!
